Pastor’s Message

Good evening everyone, and happy new week.
I was reflecting on how encouraged I felt this last Sunday during the church service. I have been away for almost a month, and coming back to my church family was both life-giving and invigorating. It reminded me that family is important, regardless of how far you go, how broken you think/feel you are and what you think/feel about yourself. That brokenness forms a beautiful tapestry that God uses. So thank you everyone for being part of the HCC church family. You are strongly valued, and you being here makes us who we are.
Having said that, it is time to segue into our Family Fun Day. There is a lot going on now, including getting the grounds ready and planning for the day, and there will be a lot going on during the event. Thank you to everyone who has been involved so far. The weather forecast looks favourable, and we keep praying that the rain stays away. We look forward to welcoming not only locals around Halswell, but ask our HCC members to extend an invite to your extended families as well.

There will be more to do on Sunday, so please come along and help. I would ask us to come together on Sunday at 9 am to spend some time in prayer after setup.
Have a family fun-day filled event.
Mato.
Church Sundays

On the pulpit this week…
The pulpit is on the street this week, as we do evangelism during the Family Fun Day.
Here is our conclusion from last week.
At the end of the day, the questions we ask ourselves determine the people we become. The mission of the church is to help us and those around us answer these questions.
The gospel interferes with our lives daily, so we should be prepared for that. It is offensive, inconvenient and costly.
God knows the bigger picture; we only get it in parts through obedience. He therefore sends us where he needs us to go, not necessarily where we want to go. The more obedient we are, the more our purpose and identity become clear.
Our faith speaks volumes. It's not about explanation; it's about experience. It's not about behaviour; it's about belief. And finally, it's not about rescue; it's about relationship.
Next week, we resume by looking at one of the most pivotal texts in Acts. Acts 15.

Dinner and desert evenings…
We have two upcoming events in our wider church community.
Looking back, looking forward is a desert evening on Thur 27th November at 7pm, hosted by Rowley Bible Church at 26 Rowley Avenue, Hoon Hay.
You’re invited! We’re an independent church part of www.cccnz.nz
Along with others in the movement, come and hear from Mark Grace (outgoing CCCNZ Ambassador) about God working in and through this movement of churches over the last 10 years, and dream with Roger Osbaldiston (incoming CCCNZ CEO) about the next 10 years.
No rego required, but to ensure enough dessert, please let Tim Hodge [email protected] know you’re coming.

Our annual youth group dinner is coming up on the 4th of December. This year, we would like to bring all the groups that we serve together. Youth group, the Friday connections programme, and the Cashmere Project. Please pray for us as we continue planning for this.
Community

The children's ministry and their amazing leaders have been working on a Christmas play, coming up at the service on the 14th of December.
On that day, we will also be dedicating two of our young ones. Please commit them in prayer as they prepare and present. May the story be real in their lives as well.
