Pastor’s Message
Dedication and a show

Happy new week, everyone!
This morning, I have been reflecting on what we shared on Sunday from Acts 22. All of us have a story we tell. Here is a short summary.
Everything we do eventually becomes a story.
Everyone is telling the story of their life one decision at a time.
Your story will one day be someone else’s reference.
A life well lived is one that is fully given to God. (process of surrender)
The only way you gain your life is when you lose it.
God takes full responsibility for a life that is truly devoted to him.
We concluded by sharing Jesus’ words in Matthew’s gospel.
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
It’s reasonably difficult to think about the stories we tell because we are living one day at a time and dealing with what is in front of us consistently. It is even more difficult during the Christmas season because of how much we have to do.
My encouragement to you this week is to practise Pause.
Pause and reflect on your day and thank God for what you achieved. Pause and thank God for what you could not achieve during the day, and pause and thank God for his grace and mercy regardless of the season, as you ask God for strength and direction for the next day.
Speaking of direction and strength, our Sunday service this week features two very exciting things. A children’s play and a children’s dedication. It will be glorious, and we are looking forward to hearing what God has for us through our children.
We will be dedicating Gracie Smith and Isla McKessar as well. The team has been working very hard on the play, led by Kirstie and Margaret, and I am especially excited. I might even wear a proper gown this week.
Have a glorious week,
Mato.

We had a beautiful youth formal dinner this last Thursday. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all who were involved in the planning and execution of this event. It was significant and life-giving to see all our various youth in one place.
This week is our last youth group evening for the year, so please commit us in prayer as we conclude the year!

Church Sundays
If you would like to help (kids, youth or adults) with the Christingle service please see Margaret.
And again, here is a reminder of our upcoming Christmas services. Don’t forget, you can still bring in gifts or food items to put under the Christmas tree at church for donations.

And speaking of Christmas, Tim has put together a Spotify playlist for you all to enjoy. Unfortunately we can’t embed the playlist in this newsletter, but here is the link.
“Christmas Songs playlist: All about Jesus. Sinead Colman, all-things-Christmas-lover-approved. A variety of musical styles and all about Jesus coming to be God with us.”
