HCC news: Focusing on homegroups
Pastor’s Message

There are various names for groups that meet during the week. Homegroups, lifegroups, cell groups, small groups, E-groups, and others. The premise is the same. A group of people who come together to encourage one another in their faith, life, love and good deeds. Hebrews talks about this…
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Borrowing a line from Andy Stanley, "We believe that spiritual growth happens in circles, not in rows." It is encouraging and I am sure very edifying to come to church on Sunday and worship together, and Hebrews does say that. However, I strongly believe that if we meet in small groups, share where we are at, pray for each other and study scripture together, then "we spur one another towards love and good deeds”.
Looking at our vision picture, this is the “committed” section. We create a space where everyone feels that they belong. We only challenge each other's beliefs after belonging, which leads to a commitment to walk and serve in Christ's way. Your walk and service are enhanced by being in a small group, where we can share our struggles and triumphs and our hopes, dreams and desires, both individually and for our families.
I am encouraging us to be part of a home group. There are a number of them you can join depending on your schedule. The question isn’t what can the group do for me; the question is, how can I serve God in this group, and how are we encouraging each other in our walk? So, I would urge you to please find a homegroup soon and feel the encouragement.
Have a week of spurring one another towards love and good deeds,
Mato.

Church Sundays
On the pulpit this Sunday and beyond…

As we lead up to Easter, youth group is doing a four-part series on the journey of Jesus towards the cross.

Thank you to those who have given towards Easter camp. We are thankful for all your generosity and commitment. We will continue to give until the Easter weekend is over. Here are the giving methods.
Adopt a camper – Make a pledge/donation to pay for the Easter camp fee for a camper. This can be any amount. (The current Easter camp fee is $278.)
Bake sale – everyone loves a bake sale. We get to bake, sell, buy and eat all at the same time. This will be on Sunday 29th March after the service.
We also need some good tents and any camping gear that you may have and are willing to give (mattresses, sleeping bags, stretchers).

Upcoming SGM
Notice is hereby given for a Special General Meeting on Sunday, 22nd March 2026.
With the changing dynamics at HCC, there has been a shift of leadership roles and more people taking on more responsibility. There has also been a change among the elders in order to serve better. The purpose of this meeting is to clarify the changes and also share a way forward with leadership roles vs being an elder. Bring a plate to share.
