HCC newsletter: Our busy season is here
Now is a good time to remember the words Paul shared in Romans
MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR
The busy season at HCC is here
Happy new week, everyone!!
As the month of November continues, I feel that I am getting busier with the Christmas season approaching.
This, of course, is partly because of the family fun day on 8th December, but it also has to do with the reorganisation at Seven Oaks School. Due to the need to centralise everything and bring it closer to the office, we have to clear out the youth group room and move towards one of the rooms next to the church service room. This is a massive job, and some volunteers are needed.
We also had a massive technical breakdown last week during the service; all that could go wrong went wrong. From the words on the screen to the livestream to how communion had to be set up. Thank you to everyone who was there for understanding. Thank you to Phil and the worship team for filling in as we tried to sort out all the faults. Eventually, we did have a service.
I fully understand that these things happen, and we are not fully in control of the technical stuff, but one person pointed out that it is important to pray for all the aspects of our service consistently, especially the technical part, which we are so reliant on. So as you think of the services, please pray for everyone who is involved with all aspects that things are able to work out well.
In all this with a busy schedule and all the individual situations that we are dealing with, I am reminded of those powerful words Paul shared in Romans.
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Have a week of trusting in God through all situations
Martin.
CHURCH SUNDAYS
Parable of the Tenants
As we continue with our series on “Stories Jesus Told, remember that the question of the week is: What would love require of me?
This week another question will arise. “What will you do with Jesus?" We are considering the Parable of the Tenants.
COMMUNITY
Another new member!
Daniel and Isabelle welcomed a new family member this week. More details are on the way!
In the meantime, as a church family, we would like to support them by creating a meal chain. This will be available next week. Daniel and Isabelle live out in New Brighton, but you can drop any food off at 10C Quaifes Road and we will make sure the food gets to them.
It's encouraging and even amazing to see our children’s ministry growing and thriving.
We would like to thank all our amazing parents for all the work they put in to raise their children and letting us partner with them through our children’s ministry. We would also like to thank everyone who prays consistently for our children’s ministry. We appreciate you all.
