MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR
The significance of celebration

Hello everyone,
This last Sunday was a special time celebrating two of our members. Sinead and Josie. What encourages me is that these two ladies are at very different stages of life, and both did not fully understand why we celebrated them so much.
While we believe and know that all glory and honour goes to God, and He remains the centre of our beings, and we offer him our attention and affection, it is also significant that we gather around individuals and celebrate them as the body of Christ.
Having family and friends there, as well as new faces to join in the celebration, was both encouraging and prophetic. The words spoken over Josie and Sinead were significant, and I pray that as they grow up, they will be like Luke’s description of Jesus. They will grow up with wisdom and stature and in favour of God and man.
And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in Favour with God and man.
We now shift our attention to Judges.
This Sunday, I will be giving an overview of the text. I will look at the main themes in the book and the various judges that we will be highlighting. I will also touch on a very disturbing story in Judges 19.
Have a read of it this week, and notice how dangerous the human race can get when we decide to "follow our hearts".
Have a reflective week,
Martin.

COMMUNITY
The next families lifegroup

This past weekend, a small group of us got together to share dinner and trade war stories about life in the trenches (otherwise known as parenthood).
Our next catch up is penned in for Sunday, August 25th, at a location that is TBC (but potentially somewhere outside if the weather holds up!)
CHURCH SUNDAYS
A reminder of our children’s ministry goals

It has been exciting watching our children’s ministry grow. It is equally exciting to hear them excitedly talking in the children’s area. We thank everyone who has volunteered to help.
I consider the children’s ministry to be one of the core parts of our church, and we would like to support and resource our children’s ministry and the leaders, led by Margaret.
We are committed to growing our children’s ministry. To this end, we are doing a few things.
Encouraging them to come to the front and get prayer.
Occasionally, we will have a children’s lesson before they go out.
We will sometimes have a feedback session after the service.

GIVING
If you would like to contribute to HCC
For a few weeks now, people have been asking how to give to the church. We have two main ways. Either in the offering box at the entrance of the church or by giving online as well. We really appreciate everyone who has been giving to HCC. It is because of your generosity that we continue to operate. So please know that we value each contribution and that we are grateful for each member individually.
