HCC newsletter: Thank you all for coming on this journey

We appreciate the patience in this time of uncertainty.

MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR
Thank you all for coming on this journey

Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who showed up and provided assistance on Saturday morning, despite the short notice.

God also came through for us through Living Waters Church lending us material to build the stage. While this change may be temporary as we wait to find out more regarding the sale of Seven Oaks school, it has definitely been good to utilise more of the space we have for our services.

I also heard such good feedback regarding the mother’s room and them being able to keep up with the service as well as the different family dynamics.

This is all part of our ongoing process to improve our processes and structures as a congregation for now and for the future. There is still more to come, and I am excited to see where God is leading us, step by step. Thank you all for coming on this journey, and thank you for being willing to engage and patient enough even when we have not had the most satisfactory answers about the future or even the present.

As I said in my pastor’ report at the AGM, this is a walk with God, not a sprint or even a jog.

Changing gears, we are excited to welcome Bishop Oscar this week to Christchurch and at HCC. On Saturday, we will have an evening of listening to him in a more quiet and intimate setting where we can ask questions, listen to his story and glean from the many years of service and experience. No need to buy food at the Vicarage; you can just get a drink, so please do not feel the pressure. Looking forward to seeing you all.

Have a spirit-filled week,

Mato

Midwinter Christmas

Our midwinter Christmas dinner and quiz night are coming up on Saturday, July 26th. Please note the change of venue. We were going to have it at Seven Oaks, but for ease of logistics, we have moved it to Beckenham Baptist Church.

Youth and children’s church

It’s the last week of term 2. It has been an intense 10 weeks for our youth ministry, beginning with Easter camp last holidays and then Easter camp Sunday, which set the theme for the term. We are at the end of our beatitudes study, and we are praying and thinking through what to study next term. As usual, we would like to thank everyone who has been so supportive and instrumental in making sure our youth group is running. From those who volunteer time to those who offer their vans, offer food and even come to hang out with the youth every week. May God bless you.

Children’s church will be running through the holidays. Our amazing helpers, Lizzie and Kirstie, will be leading us, so please come along. If you would like to be involved during this time, please reach out to any of them. We also have a functional mothers room as well for anyone who needs a space to feed or change the baby. You will still get to be part of the service as well as there is a television in the room.
