HCC newsletter: Our vision and mission
It's time to map out where HCC is going
MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR
The vision and mission of HCC

Thank you to everyone who attended our AGM last Sunday and those who shared their apologies for missing it.
It was encouraging to see the congregation gathered and willing to listen and contribute to the affairs of HCC.
I understand that it may not be the most thrilling activity to listen to reports and process a lot of the information, but I thank you all for your continued support and questions regarding where HCC is currently and where we are headed.
I will share a few highlights from the pastors’ report. The other reports are available on our website for anyone who is interested in reading them.
We are in the process of becoming part of CCCNZ. The Christian Community Churches of New Zealand is a movement of independent local churches and the regional camps and national ministries that support them. We will be working together to point people to Jesus through the gospel and scriptures. You can read more on what that means at: https://www.cccnz.nz.
Our pulpit ministry is the steering wheel for our vision and mission. Our vision and mission are: inspiring leaders, building a healthy community that is God-centred, making disciples that view the world and their lives through the lens of scripture, families and the church, God's power, and the cross of Christ.
Due to our increased capacity and ministries in the last year and our decision to have more paid staff, we are currently operating at a deficit of $4000 a month. We are making a call to give. While we do not worship giving, but the giver of all our resources, we do encourage us to give to support the various ministries that we are involved in.
We have prayerfully chosen a think tank/trustee group to help us work through our vision and mission and how to strategically implement them. They will be meeting and working closely with the elders over the next year to map out a plan of where we are going, and how we are getting there.
There was a call for volunteers in our various ministries. These include roles within the worship team, Saturday's set-up, scripture reading, serving morning tea, children's ministry, and doing tech.
Please sign up for any of those ministries if you want to help and someone will be in touch (training may also be provided).
There was also a lot to celebrate including the new families who have joined, our relationships with Seven Oaks and with other churches, connecting with the local city council, children’s ministry, and the Elders.
Finally, if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding HCC and its operations, one of our values is transparency. We can explain everything to you and show you the figures.
Thank you all for the support.
CHURCH SUNDAYS
Wins and sins

This week our conquest series continues as we pick up things in Joshua 7.
This week we consider the theme of confidence. Israel is at the back of their biggest victory and they feel confident. But the confident is short lived. Why? Find out this week as we talk about wins and sins.
YOUTH GROUP AND THE CASHMERE PROJECT
An exciting opportunity awaits

As mentioned in the AGM, we are venturing into the community more and using our youth leaders, and upcoming youth group members, as an avenue.
We feel privileged to have this opportunity, but we realise the daunting task ahead of us. We are asking for prayers and support during this time.
Our plan is to have a community-based youth group programme at the Halswell Community Hub (Old Library, at the intersection of Halswell Road and Halswell Junction Road).
We will do an invite through the local schools and run a programme that is both inclusive and encouraging. We will keep you updated as we move ahead. Our main focus is the year 7 and 8’s, who can then graduate to the Thursday night youth group.
Meanwhile, our Thursday night youth group continues to meet, and we are on the last session of Alpha. Cashmere project continues to meet as well. Please keep these meetings and interactions in your prayers because it has become more difficult over time to do youth ministry in our city.
CHURCH SUNDAYS
Helping children’s ministry grow

While we are grateful and value our children’s ministry immensely, we are looking on ways we can do more. I consider the children’s ministry to be one of the core pillars in the church, and we would like to support and resource our children’s ministry and the leaders, led by Margaret.
To this end, we shall be having a conversation with the young families about a way forward, and how to make our children’s ministry do even better.
